Brighten your skin with Vitamin C

Brighten your skin with Vitamin C

What is Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is an essential, water soluble vitamin that is not stored or produced in the body. That is why it is important to not only consume this vitamin through our diet, but to also apply it topically to our skin. It is not only an essential vitamin in terms of anti-ageing, but also plays an important role in maintaining healthy connective tissue and blood vessels within the body. This super vitamin can assist in collagen synthesis, reduce fine lines, protect the skin from UV damage, reduce skin discoloration, improve hydration, replace luminosity in dull complexions and generally make the skin appear brighter and more youthful. Along with multiple anti-ageing benefits, Vitamin C also helps protect our immune system, which means that minor skin irritations and cuts can heal more quickly. It can be used in a serum, cream or powder form and is often referred to as Ascorbic or L- Ascorbic acid.

What can Vitamin C treat?

Visible UV damage of the skin:

Every day our skin is exposed to UV and pollution which can contribute to premature ageing. Vitamin C is an ingredient high in anti-oxidants. Antioxidants help to fight ‘Free radicals’, which are molecules in our atmosphere that attack our skin cells and DNA. Free radicals break down our collagen, which can cause wrinkles, loss of elasticity and firmness and dark pigmented spots on the skin. Using a topical Vitamin C regularly can prevent these damaging effects and maintain a more youthful complexion. To combat visible signs of pigmentation, use Dermaceutic C25 Cream daily. This formulation combines all the essential skin Vitamins (A, B, C & E) along with Polyphenols which fight against free radicals and protect the skins collagen. It is imperative to use SPF sunscreen daily to prevent premature ageing (UVA) and burning (UVB) of the skin.

Reduces the appearance of Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation:

Vitamin C not only helps with the immunity of the skin and healing post trauma, but also works to lighten post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Most people refer to this as ‘scarring’. Skins that have suffered from acne often get left with red or dark marks in areas where they have previously picked their skin, or had a pimple. The high level of antioxidants that Vitamin C has to offer, can help to lighten the appearance of these marks and heal the skin quicker, resulting in a more uniform skin tone. If this is a concern for you, try Aspect Dr Active C Serum. This serum is lightweight and stable, oil soluble form of Vitamin C. It contains Lactic Acid which helps to exfoliate the skin and a potent antioxidant and peptide cocktail to firm and brighten the skin. This serum can be used in the morning after cleansing and followed by moisturiser and SPF sunscreen.

Works as a Tyrosinase inhibitor:

Cosmeceutical Vitamin C has an effect on stopping or blocking unwanted pigmentation in the deeper layers of the skin from surfacing to the epidermis.  When used topically, Vitamin C selectively targets the melanocytes along the epidermal basal layer of the skin, which in turn stops unwanted melanin production from occurring. To achieve a more even skin tone and lighten pigmentation, try using Cosmedix Simply Brilliant. This genius product is gentle yet powerful and is packed with ten plant based ingredients to brighten the skin tone and lighten pigmentation. It also contains Ascorbic Acid to prevent photo damage and assist with collagen synthesis.

Promotes firmer looking skin:

Collagen production occurs in the dermis, which is the middle layer of the skin. When collagen declines, this middle layer loses its ability to stretch. As we age, the amount of collagen we have in our skin gradually decreases. This can result in our skin looking less firm and wrinkled. Using Vitamin C regularly will help fight against the natural decline in collagen and make your skin appear to be plumper and taut. Try using Synergie Suprema-C+ to replenish and balance the skin's moisture and hydration levels, as well as neutralising those free radicals and stimulating collagen. This product contains a stable and pure form of Vitamin C and is rich in fatty acids which will help achieve a radiant and youthful appearance. If you are looking for the ultimate in anti-ageing, try combining Synergie Superserum mixed with a tap of Synergie Pure C Crystals. The Crystal form of Vitamin C is 100% Pure L- Ascorbic and is the most active form of Vitamin C you can purchase for your skin.
