Post Summer skin recovery

Post Summer skin recovery
Just like the seasons change, so should our skin care regime. With Summer behind us for another year, it is important to adjust certain products within our skin care rituals to ensure we maintain a beautiful complexion all year round.

Post Summer skin exfoliation

While we all love the beach and lazing by the pool in Summer, the salt and chlorine can leave our skin feeling a little rough and 'lack- luster'. It is important to use a home exfoliant at least once a week to ensure the skin is smooth and remains radiant. Incorporating a gel exfoliant such as Aspect Gold Fruit Enzyme Mask, will not only allow for a more flawless foundation application, but also allow your active skin care products to penetrate better. Another bonus of this genius product is that it is gentle enough to use on sensitive skins.
If Summer has left your skin feeling a bit clogged and dull, now is a perfect time to consider an in-clinic treatment such as the Carbon Laser Facial. This highly effective treatment has minimal discomfort and downtime and will help make your skin look and feel softer, smoother and firmer. During the Carbon Laser Facial treatment, a layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, deeply penetrating into your pores. We then use a laser which is attracted to the carbon solution, which in turn removes dead skin cells, dirt, sebum and oil with it. Following the laser facial, we then apply the LED lights and a Hyaluronic mask to plump and hydrate the skin. The result? Amazingly flawless skin!

Post Summer skin pigmentation

Usually the warmer weather tends to bring out pigmentation, leaving the skin looking discoloured and uneven in tone. I recommend incorporating a pigmentation cream such as Dermaceutic Mela Cream after Summer to assist in evening out the skin tone and helping to fade hyper pigmentation. This product contains a brilliant cocktail of ingredients to brighten and rejuvenate the skin including; Licorice extract, Kojic, Phytic and Mandelic acid, Retinol and Niacinamide. It not only helps to inhibit pigmentation from surfacing, but reduces the appearance of pigment spots, regulates melanin production and boosts the effectiveness of the Mela Peel in clinic treatment.
The Dermaceutic Mela Peel treatment helps to promote a homogeneous complexion by reducing Melasma, inflammatory pigmentation and improving skin radiance and brightness overall. This is not only suited for people with pigmentation concerns, it can also help to effectively treat post-inflammatory pigmentation following acne and breakouts. With little downtime, this is the perfect post Summer peel.
Another great addition to your skin care regime at this time of year, is a Vitamin C cream or serum. Vitamin C not only helps brighten and even the complexion, but is also a powerful antioxidant that reduces the signs of skin ageing. Dermaceutic C25 Cream contains Vitamin B5, A and E, along with Polyphenols to fight against free radicals and protect the skins integrity. With 25% Vitamin C and the high concentration of antioxidants in this clever cream, it will help to provide protection from pollution and UV damage.

Increase skin hydration post Summer

The humidity and hot weather usually means we opt for a more light weight moisturising option over Summer. As we start to head into slightly cooler weather, you will find your skin is a little thirstier and needs a little more moisture. Try using Dermaceutic Hyal Ceutic during the day and Cosmedix Emulsion at night. Hyal Ceutic is formulated to replenish dehydrated skin and contains Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E to help hydrate and plump the skin. This product is perfect to use after in clinic procedures such as chemical peels. Emulsion is a slightly more intense product that revives and replenishes dry skin. It contains ingredients that help with anti- ageing, as well as helping to fight free-radical damage.

The best anti-ageing skin care product

Sunscreen, sunscreen, Sunscreen! I can't emphasize how important this product is. We all know that the good old Australian sun is very harsh and can not only contribute to premature ageing, sun spots and broken capillaries, but also melanomas. Sunscreen should not only be used during Summer or when outdoors, it should be a part of everyone's daily regime throughout all seasons. Ensure you are using a Sunscreen with high UVA (ageing) and UVB (burning) factor protection. Try La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra Light Fluid with SPF 50+, it is free of Parabens and they also have a tinted BB cream version available for those who don't like wearing make up, but want a little coverage.

Still confused about skin recovery after Summer?
