Skin ageing and oestrogen deficiency

skin care for oestrogen deficiency

Every decade of life brings a new skin issue or concern. In our 20’s we are concerned with the very first signs of ageing with fine lines and dullness. Our 30's brings stress and hormonal issues and more advanced ageing, those fine lines can seem more pronounced and skin texture begins to decline. In our 40’s sun damage starts to surface from sun exposure many years prior. From the age of 50 we begin to notice reduced elasticity, increased dryness and often redness and sensitivity increases. A new world of skin concerns starts to emerge from hormonal changes.

Why hormonal changes cause skin ageing

As we age our oestrogen levels begin to decrease, often commencing years before perimenopause. Oestrogen is responsible for maintaining our skin's moisture levels, barrier function, skin thickness, wound healing processes and our collagen development.

So what happens when we start to lose our oestrogen?

In the first five years of menopause or perimenopause, our skin loses 30% of its collagen and will continue to lose collagen at a rate of 2% per year thereafter!

As our natural oestrogen levels decline we also start to loose our oestrogen receptors which accelerates the rate at which the skin ages. This results in changes to skin elasticity, thickness, sensitivity, redness and dryness. Leading to a barrier impaired and fragile skin.

How to address oestrogen deficiency in your skin

Whether you're in your 30's, 40's, 50's or beyond it is possible to address skin oestrogen deficiency. Emepelle is the first of its kind, two step procedure designed to reverse and slow the signs of oestrogen loss in the skin.

After over ten years of science and testing, MEP was formulated. Methyl Estradsinoproponate  is a non-hormonal oestrogen receptor aide. When applied to the skin, it has the ability to reactivate the receptors within the skin without any risk of systemic absorption to the bloodstream.

With the receptors now activated the skin has the resources needed to return to a healthy baseline. An increase of collagen leads to an improvement in dryness, dullness, thickness, laxity, redness, atrophy and fine lines leading to a more hydrated, firmer, smoother skin.
