Spring skin care essentials

Spring skin care essentials

Spring has well and truly arrived and we are beginning to feel the warmth of the sun again. All those chilly winter days and indoor heaters drying out all the moisture from your skin are behind us and we are starting to finally shift into those beautiful and warmer spring days.

From the transition of winter to the spring season you may have noticed your skin starting to look quite dull and lacking that overall bright and healthy tone.

There are a few different reasons as to why your skin may be feeling this way. Your skin can start to lose its natural luminosity because of slow cell turnover, which can happen at any age and season of the year. This can then result in your skin feeling like it has a dull and lacklustre appearance. Adding to this are other factors that come with warmer weather such as sun exposure and environmental damage like dirt, pollution, and weather conditions. These all contribute to skin damage as the free radicals in the air can cause the skin to age and give a lifeless appearance.

Now is the perfect time to renew and refresh your skin care to suit the change in weather.

Exfoliate your winter skin away

Your skin will naturally shed dead skin cells to make room for new cells every 30 days or so, however as we age it takes longer for the skin cells to shed and they may not shed completely. Exfoliation not only helps with removing any dead skin cell build up but it also helps to stimulate blood flow, by bringing it closer to the surface of the skin for a beautifully clearer and healthier complexion. Exfoliating your skin is helping your body's natural cell turnover process to do it's job more efficiently.

Aspect Fruit Enzyme Mask is a wonderful antioxidant-rich fruit enzyme mask designed to eliminate dead skin build up. Simply apply a pea size amount and massage onto dry skin with dry fingertips. You may even feel your dead skin cells ball up on your fingertips as you massage it in so you know it is doing it's job! Leave in on your skin for 5 to 15 minutes then rinse it off with warm water. You can then apply any active serums you use. The exfoliation will assist the penetration of any active skin care products. Use it once to twice a week to reveal a smooth, fresh and brighter looking skin.

Vitamin C to brighten up your complexion

Vitamin C is a very popular skin care ingredient and is an absolute must have when wanting to brighten an uneven skin tone, boost collagen production and prevent any free radical damage.

Dermaceutic C25 Cream is filled with active ingredients such as Vitamin C to help improve an uneven skin tone, Vitamin A to assist with improving the skin's texture, Vitamin B5 to provide hydration, and Vitamin E to fight against sun damage and signs of premature ageing associated with sun exposure. This cream can be used every morning and night for best results.

Protect your skin

Protecting your skin from harmful UV exposure is such an important step of your skincare routine. Exposure to UV rays leads to premature ageing, sun damage, pigmentation and fine lines and wrinkles. Synergie Uberzinc is a physical sunscreen that has Zinc Oxide to protect the skin from both UVA and UVB rays and Green Tea Extract to reduce skin damage and neutralise free radicals. Apply to your skin after applying active serums every morning. Don't forget your neck and decolletage and these are sometimes neglected but often receive as much sun exposure as your face.

Shield your skin from environmental damage

Infrared-induced visible damage to your skin barrier can include a dull complexion, skin irritation, dehydration, uneven skin tone and pigmentation.

Synergie Enviroshield is a daily anti-pollutant spritz designed to protect against the harmful effects of airborne pollutants and infrared damage. Simply spritz onto your skin as the last step in routine to shield the skin from any free radical damage.
