Choosing the right moisturiser
When you have tight, rough, uneven or flaky skin the first thing we reach for is a pot of moisturiser. Moisturisers are great at creating a barrier to lock moisture within your skin, but not all moisturisers are created equal. In order to receive the most benefit from your product, choosing the right moisturiser for your skin type and concerns is crucial.
Do you have dry or dehydrated skin?
In order to select the right moisturiser for your skin you must first determine whether your skin is dry or dehydrated. Although the words 'dry' and 'dehydrated' are often used interchangeably they actually refer to two different skin conditions.
Dry skin is when your skin lacks natural oils, which can lead to premature ageing. Insufficient natural oils within your skin can cause tight, rough and uneven skin. Flakiness is also often seen in skin which is lacking oil. The primary goal of your skin routine for dry skin should be to regulate your natural oil production whilst stopping any unnecessary surface moisture loss. Vitamin B3, otherwise known as Niacinamide, is a vitamin which assists your skin to regulate it's own oil production.
Dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of moisture, specifically water, within your skin. Skin that is dehydrated can appear dull and you may notice some tightness. Dehydrated skin can also be oily! If you have dehydrated skin it is important to infuse your skin with ingredients that will promote water moisture to be held in your skin. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. Used in skin care this ingredient is able to hold up to 1000x its weight in water, making it the ideal ingredient to incorporate if your skin is dehydrated. Drinking plenty of water each day will also go a long way to helping your skin stay hydrated.
Moisturisers for ageing and anti-ageing concerns
Dehydrated skin

Moisturisers for pigmentation skin concerns
Dehydrated skin
It is crucial for skin suffering from pigmentation concerns to be protected from UV radiation. Packed with antioxidants to protect from free radicals, Cosmedix Hydrate+ provides skin hydration and SPF protection in the one formula.
Dry skin
It is just as important for dry, pigmented skin to receive adequate UV protection to protect it from pigmentation darkening. With it's high SPF50 rating Dermaceutic K Ceutic also contains Hyaluronic Acid, 5% Vitamin K Complex, 4% Aloe Vera and Vitamins C & E to nourish your skin whilst protecting it from harmful UVA & UVB rays.
Moisturisers for redness or sensitive skin
